MEDIA RELEASE
AFL Cairns to Stream 2026 Season Live on YouTube

For immediate release 2nd April 2026

AFL Cairns is pleased to announce that all live-streamed matches in the 2026 season will be broadcast via YouTube, continuing its commitment to providing free and accessible coverage of community football.

The season’s first live stream will kick off tomorrow with the Good Friday clash between Port Douglas and North Cairns, launching an enhanced viewing experience on a global platform.

While AFL Cairns has proudly offered free streaming in previous seasons, the transition to YouTube represents a new era in accessibility and reach. The globally recognised platform will make it easier than ever for fans to watch, share, and engage with the competition from anywhere in the world.

This move aligns strongly with AFL Cairns’ mission to grow the game and further strengthen its position as one of Australia’s leading regional competitions.

AFL Cairns General Manager Craig Lees said the shift to YouTube is an exciting step forward.

“This is about taking what we’ve already been doing and elevating it,” Lees said.

“We’ve always been committed to free access for our community to watch out competition, and YouTube now gives us the ability to deliver that on a platform that is familiar, accessible and a global scale.”

“AFL Cairns TV has been active on YouTube since 2015, and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow and enhance that presence throughout 2026.”

As previously announced, production of the live streams will again be delivered by Rapid Spin, with LIGR supporting the broadcast through its live graphics, scoring overlays, and streaming technology.

AFL Cairns looks forward to delivering high-quality coverage of the 2026 season and continuing to showcase the strength of football in Far North Queensland.
