AFL Cairns Juniors is excited to release its dates and feature rounds for season 2023.
AFL Cairns Juniors have carefully considered nominations from clubs to design the fixtures and have worked with the Senior fixtures and availability to reduce the number of venues utilised each week.
The major focus through the fixture development has been on ensuring competition equality and fairness.
Clubs will have at least six home games during season 2023, with all teams playing a similar number of games against each opponent. Travel has also been reduced with the same team not travelling to Port Douglas or Gordonvale twice in the season.
Lastly, the first two rounds of the season have Footy for Fun scheduled at Cazalys Stadium to assist with Coach Education.
The season will commence on 23 April, which will also serve as Legacy Round. Other themed rounds throughout the season are Mother’s Day Round (7 May), Pride Round (14 May), Indigenous Round (21 May), Mental Health Round (9 July) and Silly Sock Round (30 July).
Non-competitive Finals will be played on 6 August with Under 13 to Under 17 Grand Finals played on 27 August.
A full overview of season dates is attached, with a full fixture to be released shortly.
