Cairns Saints’ Tully recruit Maya Sidhu shows talent

TULLY recruit Maya Sidhu provided Cairns Saints with a rare highlight in their 23-point defeat to Manunda Hawks on Saturday afternoon.

Sidhu is one of a handful of Saints’ female footballers who make the trip up from Tully a few times a week to play in the AFL Cairns Womens competition.

As well as the above pack mark, Sidhu was named third best on ground in the Saints’ loss to the Hawks.

“It is great to have this group of girls travelling up from Tully each week to play in the Cairns competition,” Saints president Stephen McIntosh said.

Hawks were guided by playing-coach Kareena White, who booted two of their five goals in their eighth win of 2018.

In the first game of the double-header at Watsons Oval on Saturday, North Cairns chalked up 25 scoring shots in their big win over Centrals Trinity Beach Bulldogs.

Ruby Nandy and Brooklyn Lancaster booted the Bulldogs’ two goals.
