A COMBINED effort between AFL Cairns and the Pink in the Tropics cancer support group has culminated in a happy outcome for Mossman Hospital.
Support group president Annie Richardson hailed the third Pink in the Tropics combined sports day a success, saying the event was “beyond my wildest dreams”.
“This is the third year and it’s getting bigger … it’s getting more intense,” she said.
“I’m talking about everyone, but in particular the football club, young men who’ve got a lot on in their lives. They always take time to care about Pink in the Tropics and the business community too.”
At Sunday’s event, Pink in the Tropics announced its gift of a $10,000 special needs bed to Mossman Hospital.
The sports day culminated with the headline match between the Cairns Saints and the Port Douglas Crocs.
The Pink in the Tropics group offers support to local women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
