Jordan Gregurke Moves on to New Challenge
AFL Cairns bids farewell to Junior Competitions Manager Jordan Gregurke, who departs the organisation to take up a General Manager role with Rockhampton Basketball.
Jordan joined AFL Cairns with a clear mission to grow the game at grassroots level and create an environment that kept kids coming back week after week. He leaves having delivered on both.
During his tenure, Jordan was a driving force behind AFL Cairns reaching 1,408 junior and youth registrations in 2026, a figure that reflects years of deliberate focus on participation, game day experience, and community connection.
His fingerprints are across some of the competition’s proudest achievements: a revitalised junior representative football program, a bigger and better annual presentation night, and a game day culture that puts players and families front and centre.
AFL Cairns General Manager Craig Lees paid tribute to Jordan’s contribution. ‘Jordan came to us as a passionate footy person and leaves as a General Manager. That’s the journey and it doesn’t happen without the work he’s put in. After four and a half years, he’s done a power of work in the junior space, driving participation, lifting the game day experience, and getting our representative programs back to where they belong. He’ll be genuinely missed and we thank him for his contribution to our great game’.
Jordan departs AFL Cairns on 19th June. The Junior Competitions Manager role application can be found here: https://bit.ly/applyjuniorcompmgr
