Juniors Integrate with AFL Cairns

AFL CAIRNS MEDIA RELEASE

AFL Cairns Juniors officially integrates with AFL Cairns

Following a successful motion at last week’s Annual General Meeting, AFL Cairns Juniors will be formally integrated with AFL Cairns.

The change will unlock more resources such as tribunal members and marketing opportunities for AFL Cairns Juniors, enhancing development opportunities for young players.

AFL Cairns President Gary Young says, “this will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of the competition to the clubs, eliminate any contradictions in policy direction and interpretation between AFLC, AFLCJ and AFLQ and reduce demands on volunteer involvement.”

“This follows a similar move to bring the AFL Cairns Women’s competition under the AFL Cairns umbrella approximately five years ago. That change has since seen the Women’s competition flourish with much of the weight of responsibility of the volunteer committee members being lifted and the clubs being able to get on with what they do best – playing footy.”

“This change will improve the efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of the competition to the clubs. There will also be direct financial efficiencies meaning more money for direct football development.”
AFLCJ Inc. will remain an ongoing entity, with regular delegates meetings to remain. An advisory panel of 3-4 members will be formed to oversee the continued growth and development of footy for juniors in Far North Queensland, in coordination with AFL Cairns.

AFL Cairns would like to thank the incredible hard work of junior administrators at both the executive and club level for their dedication to the game.
