Bulls all-rounder Ben Cutting and Queensland Cricket high performance manager Brett Jones joined Cairns Regional Council mayor Bob Manning at the venue this morning to release details of the match.

The four-day first-class match against South Australia will take place from December 3-6 and be the last chance for Bulls hopefuls to force their way into Australia’s Ashes squad before the BBL begins.

Manning said it was just another feather in the cap for Cairns as a regional sporting capital on top of successful NRL and AFL fixtures in July and thanked Queensland Cricket for the opportunity to promote the game.

“People, I think, up here genuinely love cricket and of course we’ve got a great facility in Cazalys,” he said.

“I think it’s great family entertainment and I think it should be targeted very much at families and kids just love seeing their heroes.

“Kids will never forget seeing Ben (Cutting) or other guys play in the Sheffield Shield here in Cairns. They’ll remember that for the rest of their lives.”

Queensland Cricket high performance manager Brett Jones said state and local bodies would be working closely with schools to ensure a solid crowd on the final three days of the match.
